How to read Recording FileName in Grandstream UCM
I have recently come across a user who asked me the following questions –
“How do I read the recordings file name in Grandstream UCM series? Does it actually show the timestamp of the call?”
Well, I’m pretty sure most users have this doubt, and this is why I’m writing this article up.
The image below is showing CDR (Call Details Record) which is a data record generated by the PBX that contains attributes specific to a single instance of phone calls handled by the PBX. It has several data fields to provide a detailed description of the call, such as the phone number of the calling party, phone number of the receiving party, start time, call duration, etc.
By clicking on the rightmost Recording File Options button, a popup box with the following will show up.
Users can opt to playback, download, or delete this recording file, which is associated with this call.

Let me breakdown this filename for you so you can understand it better –
2021-01: Recording was generated on Jan 2021
1610071562: Epoch/ UNIX timestamp of the call
1060: Caller
1048: Callee
This recording filename indicates that this call was originated from Extension 1060, calling to Extension 1048, on a Friday, January 8, 2021 10:06:02 AM GMT+08:00
The next question here is, is it possible to change the Epoch/ UNIX timestamp to a normal readable timestamp?
Unfortunately, there isn’t any configuration in the UCM which allows users to switch the Epoch/UNIX timestamp to a normal timestamp.
I will recommend the user to use this Epoch/UNIX timestamp converter to easily perform the conversion based on GMT, and timezone.
